What services do you offer?
We offer a wide range of exterior construction and design services including Concrete, Retaining Walls, Decks, Patios, Covered Spaces, Three Season Rooms, Landscape Design, Hardscape Design
Will my concrete crack, and how do you prevent it?
Concrete naturally expands and contracts, so we don’t just hope it won’t crack—we plan for it. We use a reinforced gravel base, rebar for structural strength, and precisely placed “control joints” (the lines you see in concrete) to ensure that if a crack occurs, it stays hidden in the joint rather than spider-webbing across your patio.
How long until I can use my new patio or driveway?
For foot traffic, you can usually walk on it after 24 hours. For driveways, we recommend waiting a full 7 days before driving or parking a vehicle on it to ensure the concrete has reached about 70% of its full structural strength.
Why do retaining walls fail, and how do you build them differently?
Most walls fail because of water pressure, not soil weight. We prevent this by installing “weep holes” and a dedicated gravel drainage system behind the wall to let water escape. For taller walls, we use geogrid (soil reinforcement) to tie the wall into the earth behind it so it won’t lean or tip over time.
Is it worth adding a cover to my new deck?
Adding a cover typically increases your investment by 50% to 75%, but it transforms a seasonal platform into a true year-round outdoor room. By providing shade from the sun and shelter from the rain, a roof ensures you actually use the space daily rather than only when the weather is perfect. Beyond personal comfort, a cover significantly extends the life of your decking and furniture by shielding them from UV damage and moisture, ultimately providing a much higher return on resale value than an open deck.
Do you handle the permitting and inspections for major structural additions and retaining walls?
Yes, as a full-service renovation firm, we manage the entire permitting and compliance process so you don’t have to navigate local building codes alone. Whether your project involves a structural deck cover or a retaining wall over four feet, we coordinate with engineers and local officials to ensure every element is safe, legal, and built to code. This proactive approach protects your long-term investment and prevents unexpected legal issues during future home sales.
How do you manage multi-service projects like simultaneous hardscaping and additions to ensure everything stays on schedule?
We utilize a “single-source” management model that eliminates the typical delays caused by coordinating multiple independent contractors. By handling your concrete, hardscapes, and additions under one roof, we align every phase—from initial site grading and drainage to final deck framing and landscaping—into a singular, logical sequence. This streamlined communication ensures that no part of the project is “forgotten” or re-done, keeping your timeline predictable and your property safe throughout the entire renovation.
My yard has a steep slope; can you still build a functional patio or deck addition there?
Challenging terrain is actually where we do our best work, as it allows us to create “multi-level” living spaces that add a lot of character. We use engineered retaining walls to create flat “terraces” for patios or install elevated pier-and-beam foundations for decks that walk out from your home’s second story. These solutions turn unusable, sloped hillsides into functional square footage while simultaneously solving erosion and runoff issues for your property.
What does my property look like the day you finish—do I have to hire someone else to fix the grass?
Our goal is to leave your home “turn-key” ready. Once the main construction is complete, we perform a thorough site remediation which includes removing all debris, pressure washing new hardscapes, and repairing any areas of the lawn that were impacted by our equipment. We don’t consider the job done until the transition from our new work to your existing landscape is clean, seeded, and ready for you to enjoy.
Can we break my large renovation project into smaller phases over a few years?
Yes, we can certainly phase your project to better fit your timeline or budget. The key is to handle the heavy site prep and structural infrastructure—like concrete footings, underground drainage, and utility lines—during the very first stage. By prepping the ground correctly from the start, we ensure that any future additions, like a deck cover or outdoor kitchen, can be bolted on or tied in without disturbing the work we’ve already completed. This approach protects your initial investment and ensures that the final result looks like one cohesive project rather than a series of disconnected patches.
